I have found in a world with busy people with busy lives that at times we can still find ourselves very lonely. In this journey to be a blessing to others, we must never forget that there is a need for fellowship and relationships in all of us.
Today I spoke with a family; a father and a mother with two boys. They had moved into the area awhile back due to an employment transfer. This new job with a new home in a new city created a big need for new relationships. Today, we just so happened to bump into them at the mall. Or did we just so happen to, or had God arranged this meeting to minister to a need of a family he loved so much?
It’s amazing; I thought the seating in the mall was for tired husbands that were trailing their wives for the next great sale. On this day it would be provided for us to sit and, for over 20 minutes, to do nothing more than just fellowship and connect. I had a feeling as we said our goodbyes that this was exactly what they needed.

In our journey to be a blessing to others, we must never forget to be a blessing to those close to us. It was Bill Sunday that said after the privilege of ministering the gospel and seeing countless saved, his greatest regret was that his own children weren’t serving the Lord.
Today I looked for special opportunities to be a blessing to those close to me. A phone call to just say hello and I love you. A gift that says I was thinking about you. A dinner together with a time of just enjoying one another’s company.
In our journey to be a blessing to others, may we always be a blessing and encouragement to those close to us.

Today I met a young man that has aspirations for ministry. As I spoke with him, his story began to unfold right before my eyes. This young man never had a relationship with his father. Therefore he was struggling to find his identity. He never had a father to speak into his life and to tell him who he is, a father that would affirm him. A father like the father of Joseph that would wrap him in a coat of favor and point him into his destiny.
As I spoke to this young man he hung on to every word I spoke. It was as if I was breathing wind into his sails. I simply affirmed him and spoke life into his spirit and confirmed that I recognized a call of God on His life. I told him I believed in him.
In life there can be many disappointments, even for a young man. With every failure telling you that you are a nobody. To have someone to take the time to just say that they believe in you, though it may not seem like much, I assure you that for this young man it meant everything.

Opportunities are not hard to find especially when you’re looking for them. Today I met a lady. She represented the word “lady” very well. Her story is like many in this current economy. She had lost her job of 30+ years. She found herself, after the loss of her job, not in the financial position to retire. So she found herself in a career move that many would consider backwards. But she was grateful to have a job. Like David, with all that he did, he did so with excellence of his hands. This little lady, well into her 70’s, did the job that was asked of her with the excellence of her hands.
I watched as she performed her duties with integrity, assuring that her employer who was paying her by the hour was getting a full hour of work. I wondered what I could do or say for a woman that lived a life of such contentment. That’s when I spoke up, and with one sentence I watched as her countenance shone with gratitude that someone would notice the job that she had been called to perform. The sentence was short, took just a moment to speak, but in that moment made a dear lady feel appreciated and respected. Never underestimate the power of a kind word.

Everyone deserves at least one special day that is their day. Today was that day for a young man in his early twenties. He is at a time in his life being newly married with a baby on its way, the starting of a career with mounting responsibilities. I had a feeling that this guy needed a day.
In the evening I would give him a call on his cell to just let him know I was thinking of him. I would let him know I remembered today was his day by saying Happy Birthday. I would ask him if I could pray for him, which I did, asking God’s blessing on him and the little family that God had entrusted him with.
We all like to be remembered on our birthday. It doesn’t take long to make a call, or send a card or do something special for someone on their birthday.

Tonight I was reminded of the scripture where Jesus said suffer not the little children to come unto me. There was something about Jesus that little children were drawn to Him. In this text Jesus was exhausted from the demands of ministry. But yet the children had come to him and the disciples tried to push the children away so that Jesus might rest. But Jesus speaks to his disciples and says suffer not the children to come unto me. What Jesus was saying is that I'm never too tired or to busy for the children or for that matter you and I. He gives us an open invitation to bring or hurts and burdens to him and He will never turn us away. For me today was an intense day of ministry. I'm not just talking about staff meetings and planning (It has its place) but I'm talking about some on hands spiritual warfare with the power of darkness. Things I can't wright about tonight. But as the night was getting late and many of you wondering when is he going to wright. On my mind was this journey that God has me on and that's when at about eleven o’clock I made a run to the 24 hour Walgreen’s to pick up eye liner for my teenage daughter as I had promised earlier. When I arrived there was my next opportunity to give back. I met a little family that was there a father and a mother and and a beautiful little baby just like the ones Jesus had spoke about. They were there to pick up a medical prescription. Here came the need as they were checking out there was not going to be enough to pay for the prescription and for the baby to have diapers. I wondered if I had not been on this journey if I would have missed this. I wondered how many I had missed in the past? This I know I woudn't miss this one. It's been awhile but there I stood with a bag of huggies wow I forgot how expensive they are. As I handed them over to this family. With a God bless you and your family. The surprise look upon their faces as a guy at a 24 hour Walgreen’s after eleven at night would bless them with diapers for their baby and then walk away. It feels good to share the love of Jesus in a practical way.

Today I spoke with a man not just a man but a husband and a father. Wow what a amazing responsibility that comes with those titles. And the man that I spoke with today was feeling the weight of that responsibility. Like many today the economy has effected his business and things have been very slow therefore created a heavy amount of financial pressure. I'm reminded in the scripture when Peter had got out of the boat and was walking on water (There are times in our lives where it feels like were walking on water things couldn't be better). The scripture says that Peter begin to sink (Things got tuff) We can also understand what it means to say things got tuff) But don't miss this it's powerful as peter begin to sink Jesus came to him and gave the man a hand. So when I spoke with this man today I was just following the example of Jesus in giving the man a hand. We spoke briefly Man to Man and then I asked if I could pray with him (Give the Man a hand). I prayed that God would bless his home and his marriage and his family that God would strengthen him and encourage him with the weight of what he was caring. I prayed that God would bless his business and open doors for new clients and that God would lead this man by the Holy Spirit. I prayed God's provision and favor and blessing over him and everything that was connected to him. I said amen and he uttered amen with me. That was two men getting together that understood each other and when one was down the other gave him a hand. It feels good to show the love Christ in a practical way.
